About & Background

Hi, my name is Wes,

The StudioSink is a simple system that recycles water in a closed loop thats perfect for your at-home pottery studio, or anyplace without a functioning water connection, drain pipe or power.

The StudioSink combines; the three bucket system, bar-overflow drains and a manual foot pump to provide a simple yet effective way to have running water to clean your studio without having a water hookup, or drain.

Parts & Equipment

In its current iteration, the StudioSink costs ~$300 of parts. This is a fraction of other recycling sinks on the market. I’m always looking for ways to reduce the cost of the system, while maintaining the performance.

If you find cheaper alternatives to any of the parts in this guide myself and the community would really appreciate it if you’d send me an email and so I can update the guide and improve it for everyone!

Assembly

Once you’ve ordered and received all your parts, you can begin assembly of your sink! I’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to install the sink. It takes me about an hour or two to put together a new sink and the first time I did it, it took the better half of a day.

Maintenance is Easy

After a few weeks of use, the StudioSink will build up with sediment. Since the StudioSink follows the 3 bucket design, the first basin should have more sediment in it than others and you’ll know its time to clean the basins out when there starts to be sediment buildup in the bottom basin.

Pre-Built Sink

If all this sounds like a lot of work to you can use this link to order a pre-built one, that ships ready-to-use. The price for a pre-built StudioSink is $550, shipping included, and is a replica to the sink built in this guide above, using the sidio crates.
